WavePad Sound Editor is an application intended for editing audio. It can do practically everything you need to do with sound, from recording to editing and applying effects. Besides such common audio formats as MP3 and WAV, several other formats are also supported, including VOX, GSM, WMA, AU, AIF, FLAC and OGG.
The application has so many features that an inexpert user could easily get lost. Luckily, some shortcuts to the most frequent operations are shown in the right panel. In addition, you can also take some of the online tutorials before you actually begin to work with the tool.
As sound recording sources, WavePad Sound Editor supports using a microphone and Windows record mixer. Something you may find particularly useful is the fact that the program can be set to pause recording when the sound level goes below a given threshold. Moreover, it allows opening a file, generating speech from text, downloading from an online sound library and loading CD tracks. Then, once a project has been started, you can perform the usual cutting, pasting and trimming operations. I was surprised by the huge list of effects available, including echo, amplification, noise reduction, normalization, pitch and speed change, reverb, chorus, distortion, among many others.
Another advantageous function is modifying MP3 files without re-encoding, which saves a lot of time, in addition to batch editing and file joining. It is also interesting that the tool can create ringtones and send them directly to your cell phone via email. more
